Student hand chopped off by IED Explosive. (Photo)

A student of Glory Land High School in Azugwu, Ebonyi state is reported to have lost his hand when an  improvised explosive device (IED) which went off during the break hour.

According to an eye witness,  Chibuike was playing with the device when it went off.  He was rushed  to the emergency unit of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki after the explosion which caused serious confusion and panic in the school and its environs.

One of the student told New Telegraph:

“I was in the school when the explosion occurred. I can’t tell what it was. But I saw Chibuike playing with the thing before it exploded. It’s like he came to school with it. The thing chopped off his left hand. He has been taken to the Hospital.”

Ebonyi State Police spokesperson, (DSP) Loveth Odah has reportedly confirmed the incident. She however said they are yet to get an official report from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Eke-Aba Police Station on the incident.

Hope he recovers quickly.
